Tuesday

Oh yes a bike ride, a challenging one. It is if its a 20” foldup bike with 6 gears. We are up for the challenge. The weather is sunny and due to stay that way all day, so that helps.

Breakfast of porridge with toast and tea. All the edibles are placed in the bike bags, so lets get cracking. The B5289 Borrowdale Road can be a bit scary, blind corners, hilly and fast cars.

The little bikes cope well, we can relax and enjoy the scenery that unfolds round every bend.
3 miles down the road and we stop for a rest and some coffee. Lots of people climbing out of cars armed with cameras have the same idea.

Grange
More hilly bits and we arrive at Grange, a small cluster
of cottages just over a double humped bridge which spans the River Derwent. We now start to climb along the shoulder of Cat Bells. We decide to stop to check the facilities of the Caravan Club site at Low Manesty. If you love Red Squirrels you will think that you have just visited heaven.

Lots of them scampering about without a care in the world. They certainly do not mind our presence as we take photo after photo. Its soon time to carry on up the hill, we find a spot with an excellent view to have lunch.

After lunch, we cycle back to Keswick. The thought of seeing those red squirrels still vivid in the mind, what a delight. We must go back..
