Friday

Determined not to let the weather bother us, we had a very
good breakfast, before setting off for the day to explore the east bank of Derwent water and Ashness Bridge for lunch.

Leaving the campsite we took the scenic walk through Hope park a newly created walkway leading from the Headlands to arrive at Lake side.

Along the path to Friar’s Crag, ignoring the seat with lots of passing tourist to favour the bench further on at Calfclose
Point. The views are much better too. We had just started coffee when along came a little dog, followed by its owners, a couple who run a tea shop in Pooley Bridge, this being their day off. ( http://www.grannydowbekins.co.uk/ for a treat)

Broom point
We happily shared the bench with the couple and soon struck up a friendship.
Which lasted up until we had to leave the shared path to turn off to Ashness Bridge. They travelled on to walk around the Lake.
The road leading up to the bridge is fairly steep but soon we reach our goal with a slight shortness of breath.

The bridge is busy with photographers, we take a few photo's before moving on to Surprise View. This is a promontory on the Crag overlooking the whole of the Lake, awesome! We settle down on a rock to have lunch. The daily coming and goings of lakeland life continuing below us as we enjoyed a coffee and a sandwhich. Our return journey is the path which runs below Walla Crag. Soon we are back at "Broom Point" to finish off the coffee and then back to Camp. .
